About the venue:

The Georgian State Agrarian University (GSAU) is the only higher educational institution in the agricultural field in Georgia. The university has big traditions; it was founded in 1929 as a Georgian Agricultural Institute. The university owns research institutes and experimental fields. Today there are 7 faculties functioning at the university: 1) Agronomy; 2) Agro-engineering; 3) Economic-Humanitarian; 4) Zoo-techniques; 5) Technology of Food Products; 6) Veterinary Medicine; 7) Forestry

In 2006, under the faculty of Agronomy, a Division of Ecological Agriculture and Nature Conservation was established in the frame of agreement between the GSAU, the University of Kassel (Germany), the Nature and Socially Just Nutrition and Landscape Culture non-profit association (Germany) and the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation. The purpose of the division is to establish research and education programmes in the field of organic farming and processing, as well as on nature conservation, focusing on biodiversity and the health of humans and ecosystems for the mutual benefit of the Southern Caucasian region.
